About us

We are one of Austria's largest independent suppliers of headphones and headsets, based in Vienna. Our company was founded in 1994, making it the oldest company in Austria that deals primarily with headsets.

We stock telephone headsets from all well-known manufacturers and brands such as EPOS | Sennheiser, JPL, Jabra GN Netcom and Poly (formerly Plantronics).

In addition to our telephone headsets, we offer special headset solutions for the police, fire brigade, military, control centres, air traffic control, industry and sport.

For factory tours, city tours, museums and events, we offer TourGuide and AudioGuide systems, which are also available to hire for your event!

We specialise in the DACH region, i.e. Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but also have many customers in other European countries.

HISTORY

History

Our distribution company was founded in Vienna in 1994 by Franz Drnek as a sole proprietorship under the name "communication products" and has been active in the headset market for almost 30 years. Since the company was founded, we have been distributing headsets for telephones, radio devices and control centres, as well as telephone headsets from Plantronics (now HP/Poly), GN Netcom (now Jabra) and later also Sennheiser (now EPOS) and JPL.

In addition, Imtradex Austria distributes personal guidance systems (TourGuide systems) for factory and museum tours as well as interpreting systems. Since 2010, Imtradex Austria has been distributing its own group guidance system called EcoGuide and, since 2016, CityGuide (for city tours). In 2019, the portfolio was expanded to include Talk2Guide and EcoGuide Mini. Talk2Guide made it possible to ask questions via the system for the first time. In 2021, EcoGuide Twice completed the EcoGuide family that had been created in the meantime. With EcoGuide Twice, in addition to questions, two transmitters are now possible on one channel, making the tours even more interactive and varied.

Another cooperation has been in place since 2014 with the Danish company Invisio. This partnership expands our range of products for military and police special forces. It involves high-quality headsets and PTT control devices that allow multiple voice channels and devices to be used simultaneously while ensuring full directional perception of external noise despite hearing protection.

Since 2015, Imtradex Austria has been the exclusive distribution partner of the Swiss company Sonova / Phonak Communications (Communications Division). This partnership complements the Imtradex programme in the police and public authority sector. The main focus here is on covert communication. We have been supplying the Austrian police and their special units with equipment for many years.

Another very important partnership has been in place since 2016 with the Danish company Titan in the police and fire service sector. This mainly involves helmet headsets of all kinds. Here too, our major customers include the Austrian police, such as the motorcycle police, for many years, and, since 2022, the Vienna Fire Brigade. In 2020, the professional full-duplex intercom system Vokkero was added to our product range to cover this area of application, namely intercom-based voice communication (hands remain free, no talk button needs to be pressed).

For extremely noisy conditions, we can draw on a wide range of suitable accessories, including hearing protection headsets from 3M Peltor. We also offer 3M Peltor headsets for police and military applications.

Furthermore, there is a long-standing partnership with Digitast/Straubtec in the field of foot switches and with SDZ for headsets in the control centre sector.

Due to our well-established web address "headsets.at" and our now greatly expanded international business activities, we changed our previous name "Imtradex Hör-Sprechsysteme GesmbH" to "headsets.at - Imtradex Communications GmbH" in March 2023.
